We’re particular fans of high-performing business laptops at High Performance Laptops. They’re very well built, lightweight, have long battery lives and the good ones excel at all computing tasks, not just boring work. But, there are many good models in the market and standing out is a challenge: one that MSI is facing head-on with some head-turning releases in 2025. One such model is the limited-edition MSI Prestige 16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport and High Performance Laptops teamed-up with MSI to tell you what it’s like to live with.
We were there when MSI and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport announced their partnership – the event stole the show at the huge Computex Expo in 2021. Fast-forward to 2025 and we have two new partnering laptops: the gamer and Creator-oriented Stealth A16 AI+ and this, the more understated, office-friendly, large-but-lightweight, 16-incher that’s based around MSI’s highly-regarded business-class Prestige 16 AI+.

The ‘Urban Silver’ chassis has durable magnesium-aluminium alloy bones that make it both robust and lightweight. Its appearance apes that of its four-wheeled siblings: smart-looking high-performance cars with a racing pedigree, and yet discreet enough to turn-heads from envious executives in an office without raising eyebrows. It’s arguably both a statement and a status symbol.

We found it was particularly practical to live with, too. The 16-inch screen, with that 3,840 x 2,400 resolution, provides plenty of desktop real estate for working with multiple windows or high-resolution photos and videos (which look great thanks to the vibrant colours and top-tier contrast inherent in the OLED technology).

It’s backed-up by twin, 2-Watt speakers which offer-up well-rounded audio and punchy base, despite the thin chassis.

Above the screen there’s a five-megapixel (1,440p) webcam that does a great job of capturing a sharp image, even in low light. There are also three microphones which work with 3D-noise-reduction technology to eliminate background noise making for highly professional web-conferencing. The subtle Mercedes-AMG rhombuses that adorn it are also a nice reminder of what you’ve bought and the bright orange, hardware privacy slide gives persistent piece of mind that you’re not being snooped upon. It also supports Windows Hello facial recognition log-in.

Below the screen there’s a very impressive, mostly Scrabble-Tile keyboard. The key that absolutely doesn’t put you in mind of a board game, is the metallic ‘On button’ which apes the starter switch on its four-wheeled namesake. It’s also a fingerprint reader that supports Windows Hello.

There’s a full-size number pad and the arrow keys, while half sized, are isolated and easy to reach for. Everything looks awesome owing to the red-backlighting and it’s well-weighted and comfortable enough to type upon accurately, all day. Below, it is a very large, accurate trackpad with integrated quiet and well-weighted buttons.

There’s also a full complement of connectivity. On the right is a 3.5mm audio jack, a full-sized SD card reader and a Gigabit LAN port. At the rear, there’s an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Inside there’s Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. There’s nothing missing.

So, What’s Under The Hood?
Ultraportable laptops generally aren’t the fastest on the market, but MSI has taken steps to ensure that this Prestige 16 AI+ lives up to the standards promised by its Mercedes-AMG association. It’s powered by Intel’s top mobile processor, the Core Ultra 9 288V which features four Performance cores and four Low Power Efficient cores that operate between 3.3 and 5.1GHz. There’s a generous 32GB of low-powered, fast LPDDR5-8533 RAM plus a quick, capacious 2TB NVMe hard drive (and room for another one). So, it’s a powerful machine just like its automotive namesake. Where it differs, is the noise… everything runs cool and quiet under regular use.

As for portability, the business-class Prestige’s magnesium-aluminium alloy chassis is incredibly strong and robust and will easily survive life on the road. It has a max-size 99.9Wh battery that provides up to 25 hours of battery life(!) and despite all this, it weighs just 1.5KG – so it’s a worthy partner for its racing relative.

Everything is managed by a tailored version of MSI Center S which provides a full set of intuitive laptop management tools in a Mercedes-AMG-skinned wrapper.

Also included is a plethora of matching accessories including a mousepad, mouse and laptop sleeve.

Even without brand partnership, the MSI Prestige 16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport is a phenomenal ultraportable. But, the Mercedes-AMG elements make it that bit more special but in a classless way that can simultaneously please executives wanting a status symbol, motoring enthusiasts who can’t get enough automotive-associated adrenalin and anyone who wants a high-performing portable laptop. There are only a few available, so hurry-up and click here to get yours now!
