It’s not often that a laptop can steal the show at a major international exhibition, but that’s just what MSI did at Computex 2023 when – completely out of nowhere – it announced a partnership with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport and unveiled a Special Edition Mercedes-AMG laptop to celebrate. Fast forward to 2025 and MSI is launching two new Mercedes-AMG laptops and we’ve finally been able to get our hands on one: the AMD-powered MSI Stealth A16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. High Performance Laptops teamed-up with MSI to tell you what’s good about it…

We don’t often bother with unboxings here, but it’s worth mentioning in this case as MSI has sought to make buyers of this laptop fee special with its multi-layered box that’s almost like a display case. Opening it up reveals a note that’s signed by both the Head of AMG Motorsport and MSI’s Laptop GM. Beneath that is the laptop in an MSI-Mercedes-branded sleeve. In the next layer of the box is a high-quality matching mouse mat. Finally, an actual drawer slides out of the base to provide access to matching accessories including a washbag, dual-end USB memory key, special cable ties and an RGB gaming mouse.

The laptop itself has all manner of design flourishes that elevate it above a regular Stealth (which on its own, without the Mercedes-AMG branding, is already one of the best high-performance, work-gaming laptops on the market). The high-quality, Magnesium-Aluminium alloy chassis is in Mercedes-AMG’s famous Selenite Gray colour and this sets-off the fantastic, new, embossed Mercedes logo on the lid. This, plus the MSI and AMG monikers to the sides, are all precisely crafted from metal, making the laptop stand-out from everything else on the market.

Other design elements include Mercedes-AMG’s ‘Rhombuses’ pattern which adorns a glowing strip at the rear of the laptop, the space bar, the webcam surroundings and even on the special feet on the base (which have been specially designed to help with air flow. Even the air vents are decorated and you can keep finding understated MSI and Mercedes-AMG logos on most surfaces, the more you look. Our favourite is the silver ‘Start Engine’ power-button which apes its automotive wheeled relatives. Ultimately, it looks very swanky and classy without being ostentatious – very much what you’d expect from a Mercedes-AMG laptop.
While the 2023 Gen 1 version had a few foibles – most notably a slow screen – the 2025 MSI Stealth A16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport seems to genuinely be uncompromising. While we couldn’t give it a full performance work-out due to it being an early engineering sample, it still managed impress the pants off us.

First up, is the 2,560 x 1,600 OLED HDR colour-accurate screen. Whilst the inherent, glossy finish won’t suit all users, all other aspects of its performance absolutely will. Colours are vibrant and contrast (even without HDR turned on) is very impressive, with details simultaneously remaining visible in light and dark areas and with both colourful and monochromatic transitions being rendered smoothly (without banding or blocky artefacts). Activating HDR dials this up to 11 with eye-watering brightness and dark details appearing simultaneously in the same scene, without any details getting lost.
How fast is it? Well, the quick OLED pixel response time is now married to a 240Hz refresh rate to keep even the fastest-moving objects rendered blur-free: competitive FPS players and Mercedes-AMG’s SIM-racing team will love it.
The keyboard is one of our favourites and not just because of its per-key RGB lighting. The Scrabble-tile keys are particularly comfortable and accurate to type and game upon for long periods and the layout is particularly good with a full number pad and full-size arrow keys lying just where your fingers want them to be. The trackpad is also smooth and accurate and there’s a Windows Hello-compatible fingerprint reader next to it for quick log-in.

Above the screen there’s a high-quality Full HD webcam that has a bright-orange privacy shutter so you can see when it’s being used. There’s a high-quality microphone array to ensure web-conferencing and streaming sounds as good as it looks. (It too supports Windows Hello login (through facial recognition.)
Then there are the speakers. If you were wondering how many should fit inside a sub-2cm-thick laptop, you may be surprised to hear the answer is six(!) – two 2-Watt tweeters and four 2-Watt woofers. What you now won’t be surprised by, is that the Stealth A16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport sounds phenomenal for a laptop. Audio is loud and punchy with great fidelity from the top to the bottom end. Whether you’re listening to music, games or a movie, it sounds amazing.

In terms of connectivity, all of the important bases are covered: there’s USB 4, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports and even a 2.5GbE LAN port. Inside there’s Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. That’s pretty much the best of everything.
But what of performance?
The MSI Stealth A16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport is powered by AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processors and supports up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM and a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe hard drive (that you can up-spec when purchasing). Graphics comes courtesy of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 GPU which has 8GB of GDDR7 RAM. Cooling comes via MSI’s mature (and historically impressive) Cooler Boost 5 technology which uses multiple (shared) heat pipes.
While we couldn’t test the early hardware (in a meaningful way) we know enough about this component combination to know that it will fly and play just about any game smoothly and stably at maximum settings with significant room to push things further – using simple overclocking (manual and automatic) in the special Mercedes-AMG-branded MSI Center app. There’s also enough grunt to, not just run Windows CoPilot+ features, but use it for dedicated AI workloads.
At the end of the day it’s a stacked, high-performance, 16-inch (gaming) laptop and yet it weighs just 2.1KG and has a maximum-sized 99.9Wh battery that we expect to last more than a day out of the office (for some workloads).

There’d be very few people wouldn’t want an MSI Stealth A16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport as it’s something of a unicorn laptop that would suit both workers and gamers: when on the move and at a desk. It looks awesome and we want one. Heck, it may even become collectible. Get one of these limited edition monsters here before it sells out!
