AMD Unveils Ai And Gaming-Focused Product Lineup At CES 2026

AMD used its CES 2026 keynote to outline its ambitions across AiPCs, graphics, embedded systems and data centre hardware, unveiling new silicon platforms targeting everything from ultra-thin laptops to yottabyte-scale computing. It did somewhat skip over the consumer-related computing announcements rather quickly, though.

Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Lisa Su, presented the company’s refreshed roadmap during the opening keynote, highlighting a growing emphasis on Ai acceleration in both consumer and commercial segments.

Ryzen Ai Chips Target Copilot+ PCs And Beyond

AMD revealed the Ryzen Ai 400 and Ryzen Ai PRO 400 Series processors, designed to support next-generation Ai experiences on both consumer and enterprise-grade machines.

Built on the company’s new Zen 5 architecture and featuring its second-generation XDNA 2 NPU, the chips deliver up to 60 TOPS of Ai compute. This exceeds the compute baseline for Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs.

“These processors are engineered to deliver high-efficiency Ai workloads locally, not in the cloud,” said Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group.

The Ryzen Ai Max+ Series expands the lineup to cover premium thin-and-light laptops, workstations and mini-PCs. AMD is pitching these chips for creative professionals and developers working with large language models (LLMs), generative Ai, and real-time graphics workloads.

A compact mini-PC, the Ryzen Ai Halo, was also introduced. Based on the Ryzen Ai Max+ platform, it comes with pre-installed models and applications aimed at enabling local LLM development and testing.

Gaming Chip Extends X3D Line

The company also added the Ryzen 9 9850X3D to its gaming CPU lineup, leveraging second-generation 3D V-Cache and Zen 5 cores. AMD said it delivers significant performance gains across major game titles.

“This extends our X3D architecture to meet gamer expectations while delivering efficiency gains,” said Donny Woligroski, Senior Technical Marketing Manager for AMD Consumer Processors.

AMD also confirmed that its ROCm 7.2 update now supports Ryzen Ai 400 Series processors and is available via ComfyUI. It reported a tenfold increase in ROCm downloads year-on-year, citing broader platform support across Ryzen and Radeon as contributing factors.

MI400 Series Targets Enterprise, HPC And Sovereign Ai

In the data centre segment, AMD introduced its full MI400 Series lineup of Ai accelerators. At the top is Helios, an infrastructure platform that the company says will deliver up to 3 exaflops of Ai performance in a single rack.

Helios is designed for large-scale training of trillion-parameter models, and uses a new architecture designed to increase bandwidth while reducing energy consumption.

Alongside Helios, AMD launched:

  • Instinct MI440X: An 8-GPU on-premise platform for training, inference and fine-tuning tasks. Designed for enterprises looking to deploy Ai internally without relying on cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Instinct MI430X: A high-precision GPU for hybrid HPC workloads, including sovereign Ai deployments requiring data sovereignty and controlled latency.

AMD also disclosed early details of the MI500 Series, expected in 2027. Built on a 2nm process and using HBM4E memory with CDNA 6 architecture, AMD claims it will offer up to a 1,000x performance uplift over the MI300X.

Embedded Ai Push And Robotics Play

On the embedded side, AMD rolled out new Ryzen Ai Embedded P100 and X100 Series processors. These are built for automotive, industrial, and robotics workloads.

The chips incorporate Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and XDNA 2 NPUs. AMD claims the compact chips can deliver up to 50 TOPS of Ai performance, with a 35 per cent GPU rendering improvement for 4K and 8K applications.

Su confirmed AMD is working with Generative Bionics on a new humanoid robot project, dubbed GENE1.0. Powered by AMD processors, the robot is designed to blend Ai inference and robotics control with a focus on human-centric interactions.

“This is an area where Ai, robotics, and embedded systems converge, and we believe our silicon portfolio can support this evolution,” said Su.

Commercial Outlook And Industry Impact

Analysts attending the presentation suggested AMD’s strategy is geared toward increasing its share in both enterprise and client Ai markets, while reinforcing its position in gaming and embedded applications.

Patrick Moorhead, Chief Analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, said the announcements represent “a broadening of AMD’s Ai ambitions into multiple compute tiers.”
