HP shows-off new, ultraportable Omen gaming laptop (and more) at CES

HP has shown-off a new Omen Transcend 14 portable gaming laptop, updated its 16-inch Transcend laptops and unveiled new, HyperX accessories at the CES trade show in Las Vegas.

The slim, portable, 14-inch gaming laptop is available with, up-to, an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. It has a UHD ‘2.8K’ 120Hz, OLED, display (with G-Sync), weighs ‘just’ 1.6KG and HP says it has an 11-and-a-half-hour battery life.

HP adds that its redesigned chassis, “Utilises inbound airflow to create a pressurized zone using a vapor chamber for direct heat dissipation through rear vents.” The HP Omen Transcend 14 is also the first gaming laptop to have audio tuned by (its sister brand), HyperX and it comes with dedicated, low-latency wireless connectivity to HyperX gaming headsets.

The Omen Transcend 14 is expected to be available in Australia from March 2024 at HP.com.au and major retailers, starting at $3,299. Download the specsheet.

Updated Omen Transcend 16.1 and Victus gaming laptops

HP also used CES to announce it had updated its Omen Transcend 16.1 inch gaming laptop, which we previously reviewed, here. It can now come with a UHD, 2.5K, 240Hz, OLED display which should offer better battery life than its matte, mini-LED-wielding sibling at the expense of bringing OLED’s glossy coating along with it. The refreshed laptops also now come with Core i7 HX processors.

The HP Omen Transcend 16 with OLED display is expected to be available, in Australia, from March 2024 at HP.com for a starting price of $3,999 AUD. Download the specsheet.

An updated, cheaper, HP Victus 16.1 inch gaming laptop is also expected to be available from March 2024 at HP.com and selected major retailers for a starting price of $2,799.

HyperX announces new laptop bags

Among the slew of HyperX products being showcased at CES were two laptop bags: the HyperX Knight and Delta Gaming Backpacks. HyperX says they, “Offer a place to securely stow gaming laptops and gaming accessories with durable and weather-resistant polyester, classic HyperX colours and complies with most airline carry-on size regulations.”

Both the HyperX Delta and HyperX Knight gaming backpacks are expected to be available in Australia from March at HyperX.com and selected major retailers. Pricing has not yet been announced.
