Predator has revealed that Team NEXT GEN will represent Oceania at the Asia Pacific Predator League 2025 finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event, set for January, will bring together top esports teams from the region to compete for a share of the US$400,000 prize pool.
Team NEXT GEN secured their spot after becoming local champions at the Oceania Final Qualifiers in November, following a series of regional rounds.
Showcasing Talent on the Global Stage
The Asia Pacific Predator League has established itself as a significant platform for emerging esports talent. Since its launch in 2018, the tournament has seen over 15,000 teams across the Asia Pacific compete for the chance to appear in the grand finals.
Teams will battle it out in Valorant, one of the most popular competitive games, to claim the prestigious title.
Pilski, a well-known esports caster, was the commentator for the Oceania Final Qualifiers and reflected on the high level of competition.
“Thirty teams from across Australia participated in the Oceania Final Qualifiers for Predator League,” Pilski said. “This year, all the top teams in Australia were involved, and the competition was incredibly close, especially among the top four. I believe several teams could have realistically qualified and performed well at the APAC Grand Finals. Ultimately, NEXT GEN came out on top. This tournament is one of the few opportunities for Oceania teams to compete overseas, especially outside of the main circuit, and I hope NEXT GEN will make our region proud.”
Esports Growth in Australia
With 91 per cent of Australian households owning a video game device, Predator continues to support the growing esports industry. The Predator League serves as a pathway for young talent to gain exposure both locally and internationally.
Team NEXT GEN, comprising players from Australia and New Zealand, has united around their shared passion for esports.
Team captain Aidan Gill expressed excitement about the upcoming finals.
“Team NEXT GEN are looking forward to showing our skills on an international stage. This is one of our biggest goals and a great opportunity to broaden our horizons in esports,” Gill said. “Our aim is to turn this into a full-time career, and participating in the Asia Pacific Predator League is a big step toward achieving that.”

Industry Collaboration
This year’s Oceanic Qualifiers were delivered in partnership with gaming marketing and technology firm Livewire. The company has continued its collaboration with Predator to organise the local segment of the tournament.
Brad Manuel, Co-Founder of Livewire, highlighted the importance of such events for aspiring esports players.

The Finals Await
The Asia Pacific Predator League 2025 Grand Finals will take place in Malaysia from January 8 to 12. Teams from across the region will compete for the title, showcasing their skills and representing their countries on a global platform.
