Colorful Technology Company has introduced its latest Rimbook S1 laptop, targeting students, home users, and professionals seeking an affordable and portable machine.
Compact Form Factor
The Rimbook S1 comes in a 14-inch chassis with a (16:10 aspect ratio) 1,920 x 1,200 display that’s designed for productivity and general use. Weighing 1.48KG and measuring 18mm thick, the device is positioned as a lightweight option for users who need mobility.
“Colorful continues to expand its Rimbook series with a balance of efficiency and portability,” the company said in its launch announcement from Shenzhen. “The S1 reflects our approach of providing practical laptops at accessible price points.”
Hardware And Connectivity
The new laptop is powered by up to an Intel Core i5-13420H processor. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD, which can be expanded. The hardware is aimed at handling common tasks such as document work, web browsing, and streaming.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, multiple USB Type-A ports, HDMI and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The model also includes a 60Wh battery paired with a 65W charger.
Privacy features have been added with a physical switch that powers off the camera and microphone.
Market Position
The Rimbook S1 fits into a growing market of low-cost, mid-performance laptops. “We’re seeing manufacturers target entry-level professionals and students with devices that are reliable enough for daily use but come in under the premium price bracket,” said one distributor familiar with Colorful’s product line. The company stated that its design priorities are to “deliver responsive performance for everyday computing, with a focus on value.”
Pricing And Availability
The Rimbook S1 with an Intel Core i5-13420H, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD will be available with an RRP of US$439. Colorful said availability will vary by region.
