Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme And X2 Elite For Windows PCs

Qualcomm has introduced two new processors for Windows PCs, positioning them as its most powerful and efficient yet. The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon X2 Elite are the latest additions to the company’s X Series portfolio, unveiled in Hawaii this week.

The chips are designed for high-end laptops, promising stronger performance, improved power efficiency and higher Ai processing capacity compared to previous generations.

Built For Demanding Workloads

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is targeted at professionals handling advanced workloads such as media editing, scientific research and data analysis. Qualcomm said the processor can run these tasks on thin and light devices without sacrificing mobility.

The platform is powered by Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU, which the company claims delivers up to 75 per cent faster performance than competitors at the same power level. The new Adreno GPU architecture reportedly provides 2.3 times better performance per watt compared to its predecessor.

The processor also features the Hexagon NPU capable of 80 trillion operations per second (TOPS), which Qualcomm describes as the fastest neural processing unit available for laptops. This capability is aimed at supporting multiple Ai-driven tasks in Copilot+ PCs.

Efficient Multitasking

The Snapdragon X2 Elite sits just below the Extreme model, aimed at users seeking multitasking across productivity, creative and entertainment applications.

According to Qualcomm, the chip delivers up to 31 per cent faster performance and uses 43 per cent less power than the previous generation. It shares the same 80 TOPS NPU, enabling Ai functions while maintaining battery efficiency.

Both chips are intended for thin and light designs, with Qualcomm highlighting multi-day battery life as a key feature.

Qualcomm’s Position In The PC Market

Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President and General Manager of compute and gaming at Qualcomm, said the launch demonstrates the company’s commitment to advancing PC performance.

“Snapdragon X2 Elite strengthens our leadership in the PC industry, providing leaps in performance, Ai processing and battery life to enable the experiences that consumers deserve,” Kondap said.

“We continue to push the boundaries of innovation, introduce new products that set benchmarks and redefine what’s possible for PCs.”

Availability

Devices powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite range are expected to launch in the first half of 2026.
