HP Unveils OmniBook 5 Series With Snapdragon At Computex

HP has announced the OmniBook 5 Series, a new line of Snapdragon-based laptops aimed at mainstream consumers seeking long battery life, performance consistency and Ai-powered functionality in a lightweight form factor.

The OmniBook 5 Series will be available in 14- and 16-inch models. Both devices feature Snapdragon X and X Plus processors from Qualcomm, equipped with neural processing units rated at 45 TOPS. The series is positioned as a Copilot+ PC and is part of HP’s broader push to bring Ai-enhanced computing into daily workflows.

The OmniBook was announced at the QualComm Computex Keynote.

Designed For Extended Use

HP claims the OmniBook 5 Series delivers up to 34 hours of battery life, a figure that sets a benchmark for consumer Ai laptops. The devices are also designed to maintain CPU performance even when running unplugged.

Recharge times have also been improved. HP said the 65W mini adapter can charge the battery to 50 per cent in 30 minutes. The new charger is about half the size and weight of the previous generation.

“Our goal with the OmniBook 5 Series is to address everyday computing needs without forcing users to choose between performance and longevity,” a spokesperson for HP said.

Integrated Ai Features

The OmniBook 5 devices ship with Windows features such as Recall and Click-to-Do in preview, improved Windows Search, and Cocreator in Paint. These are designed to help users quickly access, generate and manage content with local Ai support.

HP is also including its own Ai Companion tool, which enables on-device optimisation and document analysis without requiring cloud processing.

The integration of on-device Ai tools is powered by Snapdragon’s neural engine, which HP said will allow the system to handle tasks like noise filtering, image generation and personal productivity enhancements without compromising battery life.

Display And Collaboration Features

The laptops will feature 2K OLED panels, a display spec often reserved for higher-end models. HP said the displays offer near edge-to-edge visuals with rich colour and deep contrast, bringing improved media experiences to the mainstream segment.

Other hardware features include a 1080p FHD IR camera and support for external 5K or dual 4K displays, giving the devices flexibility for remote work or creative tasks.

Audio capabilities are handled by HP Audio Boost 2.0, which combines dual speakers, discrete amplifiers and Ai-powered noise removal.

Design And Sustainability

The chassis is made from recycled metals and ocean-bound plastics. The design uses lightweight aluminium and comes in a portable form factor aimed at students and households.

HP described the product as part of what it says is the world’s most sustainable PC portfolio.

Availability And Pricing

The HP OmniBook 5 14 with Snapdragon is expected to launch in July at a starting price of US$799 via hp.com, with earlier availability at Amazon and Micro Center. It will also be stocked by Best Buy and Costco in July.

The 16-inch model is also expected in July, starting at US$849.
